April 2023 News research and starcharts

Hi everyone   The three big events this month have to be the Solar eclipse in Exomouth in WA some amazing photos from that event. The launch of Starship and the Juice mission to Jupiter are also big events. There isn’t as many papers this month that I have managed to find and read but some interesting reading none the less.         Research papers     Science opportunities with solar sailing smallsats https://arxiv.org/abs/2303.14917       Interstellar Objects https://arxiv.org/abs/2304.00568       An Astronomers Guide to Machine Learning https://arxiv.org/abs/2304.00512       A Morphological and Spatial Analysis of Volcanoes on Venus https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2023JE007753         Mid-latitudinal habitable environment for marine eukaryotes during the waning stage of the Marinoan snowball glaciation h...

March 2023 News research

Hi Everyone   Please find this month’s News and Starcharts attached along with all the interesting research.   There is a good look at the Trappist planets that I myself still need to read, these papers also tie in well with the Exo Venuses. Following on from that a few goon ones on Exo planets too. With all the posts about starlink it’s been a real interest for many people and there is a good paper on the issue here too. I feel like I have a lot of reading to do this month. Amazingly it’s a nice mild clear night tonight too here in Wellington, we might be in for a stormy winter too.   Thanks Edwin   Research papers       A good update on the Trappist planets here Thermal Emission from the Earth-sized Exoplanet TRAPPIST-1 b using JWST https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-023-05951-7     The Demographics of Terrestrial Planets in the Venus Zone https://arxiv.org/abs/2302.03055     A New D...

February 2023 News, research and Starcharts

February 2023 News, research and Starcharts Hi Everyone A lot of interesting research papers out this month that caught my attention. Well it’s been a month of Weather extremes here in NZ and the tropics are still quite active to our north, and North America has been hit with some bad storms as well. Moving on to the highlights to read.   Looking at our own solar system there was a good study on how stable a super Earth Planet would be in our solar system between Mars and Jupiter and it’s probably a good thing we don’t have one present as it could cause some instabilities however A Earth mass planet wasn’t modelled or smaller Mars sized planets, these could be more stable. The search for a distant super Earth around our solar system turned up in an interesting paper this month. By carefully studying the positions of the known planets and some asteroids, the planet could well be detected however the problem was in gaining accurate information on the location of all the sol...
